Doña Blanca, also known as Valenciana, is a grape variety that is primarily grown in Spain and Portugal. It does well in wet, maritime climates and is known for producing slightly astringent white wines. This bitterness is caused by its thick skin which is high in ployphenols. Although historically viewed as a lower quality grape, it is capable of producing wines of depth and complexity. Doña Blanca is a permitted grape in the Spanish Denominación de Origens of Valdeorra and Monterrei.
